The first thing that stands out to me in WA is the lack of garbage on the beaches. They're crystal clear! Australians respect their natural surroundings and take care of it. And this doesn't come without reward because the beaches in the Esperance region are just like out of a post card.

Europe has several known surf destinations, but one of the least exploited is Portugal. All along it's coast you'll find hidden breaks. Although the water gets cold, the swell doesn't let you down, nor do the people who I'm continuously found to be some of the most welcoming in the region.

Whenever you find yourself in Western Australia, drive a couple hours down from Perth for one of the most sensory-overwhelming places we've been. Miles of empty beaches, incredible surf, acres of organic farmland offering top level wines, truffles and more.
